NILIA (Born 1995, Norway) is a figurative artist with a Master´s degree (2023) in fine art from The Faculty of Art, Music and Design (KMD), University of Bergen, Norway.
I work with autobiographical and sociopolitical storytelling through text, image and ceramic.
The motifs are provocative and the aesthetic is kitsch. This is a way to entice the audience’s engagement.
Idealistically, I seek to understand and improve the world. My art practice is a way to acquire both factual and emotional knowledge and to reflect my reality.
Through art and in dialogue with a varying audience, I challenge social structures while encountering new stories and mindsets.
In this way, I can feed a constant need for self-development and feel that my existence has meaning.
